Fibromyalgia Fog - A Natural Solution

Many who experience fibromyalgia describe a “foggy” feeling in their brain. Fibromyalgia patients commonly suffer from low energy, depression, and/or fatigue. (1This can lead to lower productivity at home and work. Fibromyalgia symptoms can prevent patients from fully enjoying time with their loved ones. Chandran et al. studied 203 subjects with mild, moderate, or severe fibromyalgia. One of the measures they examined was  the indirect costs associated with the condition (missed days of work, disability, and unemployment). They found the following -

Average Indirect Costs of Fibromyalgia (2)

  • Mild fibromyalgia - $1,341

  • Moderate fibromyalgia - $5,139

  • Severe fibromyalgia - $8,285

The cause of fibromyalgia is currently unknown. The current theory is that it is the result of chronic inflammation from sensitive immune and nervous systems. (1)  Nerve endings are sensitive to this inflammation. Those nerve endings fire and cause achy, chronic pain.

So how does upper cervical chiropractic help relieve the pain of fibromyalgia?

Nerves are attached to the spinal cord and brain. Your spine serves to protect your spinal cord. Your spinal cord is responsible for sending messages (about pain, movement, temperature, etc.) to and from your brain. When the top bone in your spine (atlas) misaligns, it creates pressure  on the spinal cord. This can cause distortion of the messages going to and from your brain. This misalignment and distortion (subluxation) can cause symptoms similar to fibromyalgia (chronic pain, brain fog, fatigue).

Miguel and Gabriel Flores, DC Specialists, are trained to detect these atlas subluxations and, if present, correct them in a gentle, precise manner. Through a gentle spinal correction, the Atlas is restored to a normal position. This allows  for a reduction of pressure in the spinal cord and for proper messages to be sent. In a study by Tedder et al., a 32-year-old suffered from severe fibromyalgia for  two years. After six months of specialized atlas care (with only  eight corrections), she experienced complete remission of her fibromyalgia symptoms. Her life was restored. (3)
