Battling Vertigo: Getting Your Head on Straight from Dizziness

The spinning that comes and goes is one of the classical  signs of vertigo. Vertigo is a health condition that involves the inner ear and brain as it relates to very important neurological functions. The common signs of vertigo  include poor balance, dizziness, fullness of  the ears, and in extreme cases nausea. Vertigo has a prevalence ranging from 5-10% of the population. However , over the age of 40, it jumps to 40%.

Vertigo is something that is hard for anyone suffering from it to cope with but also causes major issues for healthcare providers.  Due to the nature of vertigo and the individuality of each case, it is challenging  to diagnose properly and treat. Onset typically comes after a fall or blow to the head which disrupts the inner ear, nerves and  nervous system, and the brain. The most common treatments look at addressing the effects of vertigo and not the actual root cause. These options include corrective exercises and many different pharmacological options to reduce feelings of dizziness.

Many people with vertigo suffer not only physically but emotionally from the drudgery of daily living. I am a vertigo specialist. I help people get natural relief from the condition. As an upper cervical chiropractor, I focus on the alignment and integrity of the neck and the correlation to vertigo. Often when there is a trauma it causes a misalignment of the first bone in the neck known as the atlas. When this misalignment is left untreated, vertigo symptoms are often the end-stage result.

By performing a detailed examination and providing a custom plan of care for each person, it is possible to regain the proper integrity of the neck. Clinical studies have shown that vertigo patients undergoing upper cervical chiropractic care have experienced great relief and even remission over a long enough period of care. By getting the head on straightwe are able to help people get the relief they deserve.
