They cannot even imagine being able to awaken with renewed energy, feeling rested and pain-free. What are some other issues that come with fibromyalgia?

  • Memory issues
  • Extreme tiredness
  • Bowel and bladder problems
  • Lack of regular sleep
  • Depression and anxiety

As many as 10 million people in the United States are suffering from this disabling condition. For such ones, daily life becomes filled with challenges and obstacles. Fibromyalgia can be mild or severe. Each person experiences different symptoms unique to his or her situation. It can be very difficult to find a way to cope with the pain. However, one area that provides natural alleviation of pain is becoming more and more popular as it sees success in helping patients with fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia and Upper Cervical Chiropractic—Why Successful?

For one thing, the concept of upper cervical chiropractic care is much different than the traditional chiropractic method. No popping, twisting, or forcing the spine into place is needed. This can be a relief for those already in pain. They do not have to fear leaving the office in more pain. In fact, a gentle touch is used along with exact measurements and a specific method to realign the bones of the neck. Why are these bones so important?

The upper neck vertebrae, the C1 (atlas) and C2 (axis), are extremely important to the function of the central nervous system. They protect the area where the brainstem and the spinal cord connect. However, if there is a misalignment here, rather than protecting this area, they can harm it. Pressure can be placed on the brainstem causing the body and brain to no longer communicate optimally. This can actually lead to symptoms of fibromyalgia. Once corrected, patients report feeling much better. Some see their fibromyalgia symptoms go away completely.
