Depression in Children Linked to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Fibromyalgia, Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue, Always Tired, Tired, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, CFSChronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) can affect all age groups. A study was done in the UK that involved 542 children ages 12-18. These children suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome. Out of this number, 29% also experienced depression, while others had issues with anxiety. This shows the clear link between chronic illness and depression in young people. The National Alliance on Mental Illness stated that 2% of children in elementary school were at risk for depression. That number jumped to 8% in preteens and teens. This may seem like a small number. However, it represents millions of children.

It is possible that the reasons for depression in those with chronic fatigue have to do with how they are feeling. Certainly, pain and tiredness can cause anyone to be irritable and more so with children who do not really understand what is happening. This can also lead to being isolated socially. Once again, a reason for depression. Can anything be done for these children or even adults who suffer from CFS?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Alleviated by a Healthy Spine

Upper cervical chiropractic care has seen much success in treating patients— young and old alike—with chronic fatigue syndrome. A person may wonder how neck alignment and CFS are related. The upper cervical spine, specifically the top two bones of the neck, are located in the area where the brainstem meets with the spinal cord. If either of these bones is misaligned, the function of the brainstem can be affected negatively. This can cause improper blood flow and cerebrospinal fluid flow that lead to problems with both the brain and the body. In addition, signals being sent to and from the brain and body can be hindered causing such health conditions as chronic fatigue.

Once corrected through a gentle, precise method many people have reported feeling much better. This often only takes a couple of adjustments. Some have seen their chronic fatigue go away entirely. This holds true for adults and children. The method is safe for children and does not involve popping or twisting of the spine. It just may result in a happier and healthier child.
