Vertigo - Can Anything Be Done About it in Manila?

Vertigo, Dizzy, Dizziness

You or someone you  know may have vertigo. You may wonder why it developed or what may have caused it. Let's first talk about what it is , and then we will discuss why it happens.

Vertigo is defined as a dizzying sensation of tilting within stable surroundings. In other words, you may feel like the room or area you are in is spinning around you when you are standing or sitting still. It is not  imbalance,  and it does not occur because of a fear of heights. So, why does it occur?

Let's discuss balance and how it works in  the body. We naturally are born with a sense of balance. The sense that our surroundings are spinning is due to an injury to the inner ear. How does the ear play a role?

Th ere are three parts to the ear: the inner, external, and middle ear. The outer ear is called the pinna. Sounds come into the pinna and through the ear canal. They then come in contact with the ear drum. This causes vibrations that go to the cochlea (inner ear) and then to nerves that send them to the brain. When the brain receives these, we hear  sound.

There are semicircular canals near the top of the cochlea that are fluid filled. These send information to the brain about whether or not  the body is balanced. When an injury occurs,  the brain gets the wrong signal. It thinks the area around us  is spinning. We become disoriented.

Is There any Help?

This condition can be very hard to treat. However, there has been success shown by upper cervical chiropractors, such as Miguel Flores, DC Specialist and Gabriel Flores, DC Specialist of Makati City, Manila, Philippines. These doctors look for a misalignment in the upper two vertebrae of the neck. If there is so much as a ¼ millimeter of subluxation (misalignment),  it can cause your brain not to send the proper signals to the body through the brainstem. Blood flow is decreased, which  results in nerve damage and other problems. Once an upper cervical chiropractor corrects that misalignment in your neck, you will be back on track and the spinning will stop. Your brain will begin communicating with your body in the right  way,  and your correct balance can be restored. Your body will function as it was meant to and you will feel much better.
