A 5-Step Guide to Getting Vertigo Relief

Many patients looking for vertigo relief in Manila are unsuccessful in their search. Vertigo is a common symptom, yet no treatment option seems to give long-lasting relief. This is unfortunate, especially when chronic attacks of vertigo may occur almost daily.

Vertigo can affect every aspect of a person’s life. Don’t believe the misconception that vertigo is a normal part of aging or there is nothing you can do about the symptoms or pain that come with it. We have helped hundreds of patients find long-term relief from vertigo.

Explaining Peripheral Vertigo and Central Vertigo

Vertigo has two categories: peripheral vertigo and central vertigo. Both can result in a sensation of spinning, tilting, or swaying. They differ in some ways, but both have some connection to the upper cervical spine.

Peripheral Vertigo

Peripheral vertigo originates from a problem in the inner ear, resulting in impairment in balance and spatial orientation. The uppermost bone in the neck, the atlas, is at the base of the skull. It is near the ears. The atlas has an impact on the ears as it can disrupt the Eustachian tubes, the canals that drain the excess fluid from the ears. Malfunction of the Eustachian tubes can result in severe vertigo and vestibular conditions such as Meniere’s disease.

Central Vertigo

Central vertigo is due to problems in the central nervous system, leading to flawed sending and receiving of signals between the ear and the brain. The atlas vertebra encloses the brainstem, which is the communication highway of the brain. Brainstem malfunction can develop even with the smallest misalignment in the atlas. Also, the cervical spine enables blood flow to the brain, so misalignments can limit the oxygen in the brain.  Certainly, for the central nervous system to function at its optimum, the atlas should be in proper alignment.

How to Get Relief from Vertigo Naturally

If you seek vertigo relief in Manila that is safe and natural, this quick guide should come in handy. We’ve listed down the five steps you should take towards upper cervical chiropractic care.

Step 1 – Get Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care

In the beginning, many of our patients often say they have never heard nor tried this niche in the chiropractic practice. Hopefully, this post, along with the rest of our blogs, will help you to learn more about upper cervical chiropractic care. It is a safe and effective technique that relieves vertigo and many other health conditions through adjustments of the atlas and long-term healing.

Step 2 – Schedule an Initial Visit

This step can be accomplished by making a phone call or filling out an online contact form. The critical part is looking for a reliable upper cervical chiropractor near your area since there are limited specialists who practice upper cervical chiropractic in Manila. Be sure to do diligent research before reaching out to a practitioner. Read patient testimonials and reviews.

Step 3 – Have a No-Obligation Consultation

Some upper cervical chiropractors offer a low-cost consultation. Get your first consultation to know if upper cervical chiropractic is the right option for you. Here at N8 Upper Cervical in Makati City, Metro Manila, our patients are free to walk away if they do not like what they hear on the first visit. You can give other options a try. Fortunately, most people who we have spoken to have realized the potential benefits of upper cervical chiropractic after their first consultation.

Step 4 – Undergo History Taking and Other Examinations

This step is where the upper cervical chiropractor starts to investigate the root cause of the health problem. In most cases, a patient history helps to determine a possible underlying cause of an upper cervical misalignment. Atlas misalignment can be due to a sports injury, car accident, and even a simple slip and fall. Another reason is wear and tear from poor posture.

After the completion of patient history, some diagnostic imaging follows. Upper cervical chiropractors perform X-rays and other modern imaging techniques for two important reasons. First, to make sure that you have no severe damage in the neck and that you are safe to receive an adjustment. Second, to accurately measure the exact degree of misalignment. This makes possible the customized adjustment for every patient to have maximum results.

Lastly, you will undergo a physical examination before your adjustments. Some of the things the chiropractor will look at are your leg length and whether your hips and shoulders are even. X-rays and adjustments are not necessary every visit, particularly when the atlas has stayed in place since your last adjustment.

Step 5 – Receive a Personalized Care Plan

This is the time your adjustments begin. The first adjustment is the start of your journey to healing, but your journey will be affected by the degree of your misalignment and how long the atlas has been out of its correct position. The upper cervical chiropractor may ask you to return for your next checkup and possible adjustment within a few days to a week. The longer your adjustments hold, the further you can spread out your future appointments. This makes upper cervical chiropractic a cost-effective and preferred form of care by many patients.
